Saturday, April 13, 2024 | Washington, D.C.

Thank you for your interest in our

Sudanese-American Diaspora Advocacy Workshop!

About the Workshop

This workshop is designed for Sudanese-American diaspora community members who are interested in learning how to strengthen their congressional advocacy skills in the United States.  The goal is to support the role of Sudanese-American diaspora organizations in advocating for effective US-Sudan policy by providing advocacy training for US-based Sudan diaspora constituencies.

Statement of Purpose

The purpose is to support the role of Sudanese-American diaspora members in advocating for effective US-Sudan policy by providing advocacy training for US-based Sudan diaspora constituencies.

We believe Sudanese diasporas in the United States are experienced in mobilizing resources, responding to needs on the ground and utilizing social media, but significant gaps still exist with their familiarity and expertise in conducting congressional advocacy in their home states and in Washington, D.C.

Led by Semhar Araia, this training aims to help strengthen their US-based civic engagement efforts by providing a foundational training on effective diaspora congressional advocacy.

Travel and accommodations to Washington, D.C. for the one-day workshop will be provided to selected participants.
